Red Light Therapy has been used in the United States for over 40 years, but only recently has the technology advanced to provide for fat reduction as well as tightening and rejuvenating the skin. Red light therapy has been used in hospital burn units, as part of "smart" liposuction, and in non-narcotic pain relief.
Red light therapy research at Mayo Clinic, NASA, and other leading research organizations have proven the safety and efficacy of red light therapy. With their invention UltraSlim, Advanced Photonic Systems, LLC has built on the research of Rodrigo Neira, M.D. and Clara Ortiz-Neira, M.D. who, in 2001 demonstrated that an 8mW 635nm laser that was held 6 to 8 inches from the skin could emulsify deep fat (6cm) and break up the appearance of scar tissue.
Red light technologies remove fat
and reduce inches without invasive surgery. There are no

technologies are all based on modulating a specific type of
red light. The modulated red light tricks the mitochondria
in the nucleus of the fat cell into creating a transitory
pore in the cell membrane, allowing the fatty acids and

With their UltraSlim invention (patent pending), Advanced Photonic Systems delivers greater photonic energy and fat reduction than Zerona or other competing products. UltraSlim uses 144 modulated high-power light-emitting diodes rather than 5 low-power laser-emitting diodes.
We started with Zerona just after it was approved by the FDA in 2010 and we soon became the largest Zerona provider in Florida. We achieved great results for thousands of patients and procedures, however, a substantial number of patients required re-treatments in order to achieve the guaranteed loss of inches. And some patients received a refund because they did not lose 3", even with 12 or more Zerona treatment sessions. Simply put, the Zerona's five 7.5 mW laser-emitting diodes are mild compared to more recent technological advances.
Lipo-Light: We looked for better technologies and in 2011 found a company in the United Kingdom that was offering a Lipo-Light system with 200 light-emitting diodes (12.5mW each) placed against the skin. The device offered immediate losses during a treatment session and did a better job smoothing cellulite. Unfortunately, the shortcomings of the Lipo-Light outweigh the benefits. The treatments take about 30 minutes per area -- and an area is very small. Like the i-Lipo, Lipo-Light uses paddles that touch the skin. The paddles leave marks where the body was treated and there are hygiene issues with the paddles and Velcro straps shared by the patients.
Then, in 2012 we introduced the UltraSlim -- which guarantees 2" of fat loss in just one hour. Why spend weeks on Zerona? UltraSlim was developed by a NASA veteran and a Zerona expert.
Given a choice, our patients preferred UltraSlim. Zerona, i-Lipo, and Lipo-Light are simply no longer competitive with state-of-the-art red light therapies, and we have discontinued using those technologies.
